Job: Part-Time (Nanny) Ref:
V2238 |
Description:
This little boy is seven years old and at
the age of three was involved in a car accident,
resulting in a head injury and post-traumatic
stress disorder. He has made a remarkable
recovery but it has left him with some learning
and behavioural difficulties. He is mobile
and attends mainstream school on a full time
basis, with teaching support. He loves animals
and has cats, dogs, ducks, chickens and aviary
birds. His animals, along with music have
a very calming effect on him. He enjoys school
where he is generally well behaved and conforms
to the class situation. However, at home he
can be a little unruly and uncooperative at
times. He can become very anxious in certain
situations and at times he requires a lot
of encouragement to participate and try new
activities. There is a clinical psychologist
involved in the rehabilitation, as well as
a Speech and Language therapist and Occupational
therapist. The person will be required to
work alongside the parents and therapists
and be expected to follow advice and recommendations.
The person will assist the Psychologist in
implementing structured behavioural programmes
in order to support his outbursts and bouts
of anxiety within the home. Training will
be provided where necessary. The objective
will be working with this little boy to increase
his self confidence, allow him to access different
activities within his local community and
to enhance structure and routine in the home
environment. This little boy requires someone
who is very outgoing, someone who will enjoy
going swimming, horse riding and visiting
places of interest.
