| If
you do not already have one, you will need an Enhanced police check. You can register
before your form has been processed by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), but
you must have started the process. CRB's are not transferable, so even if you
have an up to date one, you will need to start one through us. If you have one
that is less than 6 months old, you may if you wish, start the process by getting
a form, but wait until we a possible job for you before you send the form and
cheque to us to be processed. This way you will not pay for the CRB until we have
something for you, however this will delay the process and you may not be eligible
for some jobs. SNAP will refund the cost of the CRB to you if we place you.
How
to get a police check: You will need to complete the Disclosure Application
Form. Call the CRB on 0870 90 90 811. Say you wish to have an ENHANCED
Police check, (this refers to the level) through SNAP Childcare. You will
need to quote our reference number: 21462700009. They will ask you a few
details and then send you a partially completed form. You then bring or send that
to us. We complete the last page and send it to the CRB. When you call the CRB,
they will give you two reference numbers. So we know you have started the process
and so we can track it on-line, you will need to let us know the 11 digit reference
number starting with 00.
Ideally e-mail this to us - if not call with
the number. (Once you have started the process, you can check the progress of
your application too - click
here )
Unless we know you have started the process, we are unable
to look for work for you.
We
need to see proof of ID (originals only) before we can send off the form (either
brought in to our office or sent, see below): 1. Your passport (or birth or
marriage certificate if you do not have a passport) 2.
Driving Licence (where applicable) 3. Proof of address (current bank statement,
Council tax bill etc.)
See
page 3 of this CRB document for other ID if you do not have the above If
you are unable to come to see us
You will need to send ID items via post. We strongly advise you send these items
as a 'Signed For' delivery. Please also send the appropriate stamps for the documents
to be returned to you as 'Signed Delivery'. Please note, we cannot be held responsible
for any items that go missing in the post. We will endeavour to return ID items
within two days of their receipt. If we do not receive the appropriate stamps,
we will have to send items back via the usual post. Payment
You will need to send a cheque made payable to: Criminal Records Bureau, for £36.00
(new price increase since 1st April 06)-- this is the basic cost, we do not charge
an administration fee for those registering with us. Alternatively you may pay
by Postal Order. Please do not send cash through the post (You may pay by cash
in the office). Applicants may request and will be refunded the cost of the
CRB check once they have been placed in a permanent position through SNAP after
3 months.
