SNAP Childcare was started in 2001 by Sally Britton, B.Sc., an NNEB trained special needs nanny and Andrew Knight, the parent of Camilla, who has cerebral palsy. Our desire was to offer a service based on an understanding from all sides of the equation. This continues to be our philosophy and has proved to meet the needs of the child the wider family and the nanny / childcare professional. Camilla is now a delightful young lady who has a winning smile and a natural charm. She continues to be our motivation; setting the standard of care we expect for all our families.
We are passionate about enhancing the lives of children with additional needs and supporting their families to do so. We believe that all children should have the very best care, the opportunity to reach their potential, to live life to the fullest and to be full members of our society. SNAP strives to be a champion for the child with additional needs; helping others to appreciate what they offer to us as individuals and to our wider community.
SNAP Childcare is a specialist introductory agency; we work solely with families who have children with additional needs (and their siblings of course!). We provide high calibre, experienced nannies, buddies, carers and other childcare professionals across the UK and internationally. Positions may be full or part-time, daily or live-in, temporary and permanent. We also help families in difficult family circumstances such as those suffering a bereavement, and parents who themselves have an additional need (such as an Acquired Brain Injury).
We place people to work with families with babies and children of all ages with any type of special needs whether that's a mild learning difficulty such as dyslexia, a physical or learning disability, challenging behaviour or complex medical needs. We also assist with families in particularly difficult situations, such as those experiencing terminal illness or bereavement. We work directly with families and via case managers. Our SNAP16+ division works with young adults and adults with additional needs.
We are committed to making great matches based on experience of course, but also on more personal attributes, an essential factor for a great placement is that you get on very well and are on the same 'wavelength'.
Over the years we have built up a large database of candidates and our years of experience helps us to select only the very best applicants. We are known in the industry as the special need agency, so we are fortunate to be able to attract new candidates everyday. In the same way we attract families who share SNAP's philosophy and passion to help a child reach their potential.
Our experienced and committed consultants will understand your needs and support you through the process of finding a great person to look after your child or finding that great job.
Over the years, people have been kind enough to write us about their experience with SNAP, take a look at just some of these in our testimonials.
