Nannies & Carers: About SNAP Childcare
SNAP! Childcare was started by Sally Britton, an NNEB nanny with 18 years experience (12 years with special needs), and Andrew Knight, whose daughter has cerebral palsy. The combined experiences provide an understanding to both nannies and families.

We only deal with special needs placements and place nannies, carers, facilitators, enablers and support workers throughout the UK and abroad. We place professional people to work with babies, children with additional needs, including those with mild learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities. We also place people with families who are in difficult situations or parents needing assistance to enable them to look after their children, for example those who have an acquired brain injury (ABI). (Our SNAP16+ Division works with young adults with additional needs).

Special Needs Knowledge
Recruiters at SNAP are very familiar with all types of additional needs. We are able to understand the needs of both parents and potential candidates - we appreciate that although our positions are undoubtedly rewarding, they can also be challenging.

Our Jobs
Because we only deal with special needs placements, all of our positions are within this field, and we have have some amazing positions, with some amazing families. We have positions throughout the UK and abroad. Most of our positions are within private family homes. We update new jobs on our website daily. We visit all of our families, just as we want to find the right nannies and carers for our families, we also want to find the right families for the people we place.

Who can work through SNAP?
Because all of our positions are with babies and children with additional needs, we will only recruit people who really want to work in this area - it is not an easy choice! You will ideally have experience with children with additional needs, this may come from a variety of settings: schools, voluntary work or even having a sibling with additional needs. If you have great mainstream experience, but no special needs experience, we still maybe able to help you. Every child is different and nannies and carers needs to learn about each individual child's needs. On the job training is often available.

The most important criteria - is having the right attitude, to be able to see the needs of the whole family and to want to help a child reach their potential, whatever that may be.

Applicants will need to provide information as below. All applicants must have a valid work permit.

Registration Process.
To register you will need to complete an on-line registration form, send us a copy of your CV with full employment/education history (Ideally by e-mail), provide two professional references. We will need to interview you - where ever possible we like to meet you face to face, if you really live too far away, we can conduct a telephone or Skype interview. We will need to see your original documents (If you are doing a telephone interview, you will need to post them to us). See also registration process.

All applicants must have an in date CRB police check. See Police Checks

After Placement Support
We understand that working with children with additional needs can be very demanding. We will call both the nanny/carer and parent on the first day of work and then a couple of weeks later to check that all is going well. You are of course welcome to call us.

Employment Contracts
We will provide a contract of employment that is agreed between employee and employer. This is a formal document that covers both employer and employee against specific events, & includes details that are specific to nannies/ childcare workers. Working in a personal environment means that there are issues that are often not covered in a regular employment contract, especially for nannies who live in.

Newsletter / Information
We produce our own on-line newsletter, SNAP!News, that is for both nannies, carers and families. You are welcome to contribute articles relating to childcare & special needs. We also have a access to information regarding specific special needs, as well as details of organisations who will be able to help you further. Recruiters have experience in the areas of both childcare and special needs.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm. If you would like to come and see us, please call beforehand 020 7729 2200.
