We are looking for someone to do a job share with our current SNAP nanny. Ideally she would like to work 3 days a week. Joel (Jojo) is 5 and has severe cerebral palsy. He was born prematurely. Jojo is a delightful little boy with an infectious smile and giggle, but he does have very complex needs. He is totally dependent for all his needs. He is fed via a gastrostomy tube, is on 24 hour oxygen and his condition is life-limiting. He has pain relief and can experience a great deal of discomfort. It is important that possible nannies appreciate the level of his needs, this position requires someone who can be emotionally resilient and understand the needs of the whole family. Jojo has had a difficult year and spent some time in hospital. Jojo is clearly a very loved little boy; and his parents are looking for someone who understands that time should be spent enabling him to enjoy his days as much as possible. He loves being read to, sung to, going out for walks, his bath and most of all plenty of cuddles! This will be a demanding role, but there is plenty of support - both from the parents and from other professionals. This will be practical support during the day when others come in and work with Jojo as well as emotional support from professionals. Jojo goes to a lovely nursery where the nanny will work as his one to one support worker three times a week. In September, they will work with Jojo at Tadworth school. The community nurses are happy to provide excellent training in all areas of Jojo's needs. This training will enable the nanny to gain very valuable skills which will assist in future employment prospects outside of special needs nannying. Lovely family known well to SNAP.
